I love a good cozy mystery and this one didn't disappoint. Just when I thought I had it figured out, I was completely blown by answer. Not only does the mystery cover whodunit and why, but even the method of the killings surprised me. The open ending promises more in this series. I can't wait to see what comes next, and if the sparks continue to fly between Andie and Corey.
The setting feels alive, and the mystery kept me turning the pages. The characters are warm and believable, making it easy to get drawn in. A great read for anyone who loves small‑town mysteries with heart.
I enjoyed “Pioneering Secrets” by Liane Mahugh about a murder in the small town of Rolling Brook Falls. As with many small towns everyone knows everyone and all their business. . . and their secrets. It’s a great set-up for a twisty-turny mystery. The characters are believable and the dialog between them is authentic. The author did a great job of creating a small-town atmosphere and pulled readers into the setting.
Mahugh writes with a natural rhythm that blends small-town charm with creeping dread. The characters feel like people you’d know. They’re messy, stubborn, kind, and sometimes secretive. But it’s the pacing of the mystery that really kept me flipping pages. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist came along to knock me sideways. If you’re in the mood for a mystery that feels both personal and suspenseful, this one’s worth your time.​​​​​​
The author does a great job with the easy-to-read style and the great interaction between the main characters. The element of surprise after flipping another page is always there, and that is great. I simply devoured this cozy and quick to read thriller, and I am sure any thriller lover will enjoy this story as much as I did.
